Bosnia and Herzegovina: Electricity production increased by 10 %
, SEE Energy NewsIn the first quarter of 2021, Bosnian state-owned power utility EPBiH produced a total of 2,019 GWh of electricity, which is 14.93 % more than planned for this period and 10.09 % more than in the same period last year.
Total electricity production in hydropower plants (including SHPPs) amounted to 622.1 GWh, which is 48.81 % more than planned for the first three months of 2021, mostly due to very favorable hydrology, especially in the first two months. At the same time, EPBiH’s coal-fired thermal power plants produced a total of 1,374.8 GWh of electricity, which is 3.47 % more than planned. Increased production at TPP Kakanj managed to offset reduced production at TPP Tuzla due to regular overhaul of unit 5, which dropped 5.71 % below planned.
The only wind farm operated by EPBiH – recently commissioned Podvelezje, produced a total of 22.1 GWh of electricity in the first quarter. Thus, the share of wind energy in EPBiH’s total electricity production amounted to 1.1 %.
