In 2022, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), there were a total of 451 power plants within a support system designed to encourage electricity production from renewable energy sources.
According to the operator for renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration (OIEiEK), total electricity generation of these facilities amounted to 2,103 MWh in 2022.
Last year, a total of 174 contracts were signed for the purchase of electricity from power plants in trial operation, with a total installed capacity of 18.572 MW, and 13 contracts were signed for the purchase of electricity at reference prices, with a total installed capacity of 2.504 MW.
The operator faced enormous pressure from the public and electricity producers in 2022, who claimed that it was unjustifiably blocking important processes in the implementation of renewable energy projects. However, this did not affect the current management to make decisions that are not based on laws and regulations.
Based on the recommendations issued by the Office of the Auditor for Institutions in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, OIEiEK developed a plan and program for implementing these recommendations in April, which successfully realized 30 recommendations, while seven recommendations are still in the process of being implemented.
Based on the previously conducted activities aimed at establishing all necessary databases, the operator made the unique register of renewable energy and cogeneration projects and the status of dynamic quotas as of 31 December 2020, available to the public on its website, thereby ensuring full transparency in the operator’s operations.
