Gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 1,170 GWh in April, compared to 1,110 GWh in the same month last year, according to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 18.9 %, thermal power plants with 79 % and solar and wind power with 2.1 %. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 219 GWh in April 2020, which is 57.2 % less than in the same month in 2019. Thermal production amounted to 838 GWh, which is 65.3 % more than in April last year. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 24 GWh.
Electricity imports dropped to 208 GWh in April from last year’s 293, while exports rose to 462 GWh (343 GWh in April 2019).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 647,000 tons in April 2020, which is three times more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 3.6 % and amounted to 546,000 tons.
