Director of state-owned power utility ERS Luka Petrovic said that the Republic of Srpska (RS) is planning to build a total of 1 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2029.
Petrovic said that ERS has already agreed the construction of 430 MW of renewable energy capacities, while other investors are working on building additional 180 MW of renewables in RS.
ERS is increasing investments in renewable energy sources in an effort to diversify its energy portfolio. Besides Trebinje solar power plant, the company is developing a project for a 48 MW wind farm Hrgud in eastern Herzegovina, as well as several large-scale hydropower plants: Dabar, Bistrica, Buk Bijela, Foca and Paunci, the latter three in cooperation with Serbian EPS.
