Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska, Zeljko Kovacevic said that the bids evaluation for the construction of desulphurization unit in the Mine and power plant “Ugljevik” is underway, adding that the TPP Ugljevik company will be able to repay the investment.
Kovacevic said that in this way TPP “Ugljevik” would ensure stable operation and would join companies that meet all the requirements of EU standards on reducing evaporation emissions.
Commenting on allegations that around four million tonnes of high quality coal remained trapped in the mine due to the overburden disposal, the minister said that these were insinuations and that the exploitation of this coal was economically unprofitable.
– This mine has enough capacity to make the exploitation economically feasible – Kovacevic told reporters in Banja Luka.
