Bulgaria: Electricity generation 15 TWh in the first quarter
, SEE Energy NewsElectricity consumption in Bulgaria in the period January – March 2022 increased by 3% annually, to 11.6 TWh, according to data from the Electricity System Operator (ESO).
The balance of exports and imports of electricity amounted to 3.6 TWh, increasing by 183%.
The ESO report shows that 15 TWh of electricity was produced in Bulgaria during this period, an increase of 21.3% annually.
Base power plants have the largest share in production, with a total of 13.07 TWh, which is over 30% more compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the production of hydroelectric power plants has been reduced. In the first quarter of 2021, hydropower plants produced more than 1.67 TWh of electricity, an increase of over 260% annually.
In the first three months of this year, however, there was a drop in production by nearly 33%, to 1.1 TWh.
