According to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO, production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 19 May 2019 has increased by 5.92 % compared to the same period in 2018 and reached 18.23 TWh.
Bulgaria’s electricity consumption also rose in the same period, by 2.31 % reaching a total of 15.82 TWh. Electricity exports increased by 37.8 % in the same period to 2.41 TWh.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network dropped by 0.23 % to 489 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 13.02 % to 709 GWh.
