In Croatia in December 2020 net electricity production amounted to 1,725 GWh, which is 15.2 % higher compared to December last year, when the production amounted to 1,498 GWh, according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
During December, 973 GWh of electricity or 56.4 % was produced in hydropower plants, 482 GWh or 28 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 185 GWh or 10.7 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 736 GWh of electricity, 6.7 % more compared to last December (690 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 853 GWh, 45.6 % more than in December 2019 (586 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 69 million cubic meters of natural gas in December 2020, 14.8 % less compared to December last year. Natural gas imports stood at 205 million cubic meters, 3.5 % more than in December 2019. Crude oil production stood at 47,000 tons, which is 11.3 % lower compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 41,000 tons in December 2020, which is more than eight times lower than in the same month last year.
