Earlier this month, the Vodice City Council adopted a decision to start the procedure for the construction of 60 MW solar power plant in the industrial zone, at an area covering 55 hectares.
Mayor Ante Curkov said that, with the completion of this project, Vodice will be completely independent in terms of electricity, even in the peak of the tourist season, because the city consumes on average only a third of electricity that would be produced by the plant.
The investor in the plant is local company Energija Dalmacija. According to the environmental impact assessment study, solar panels would stretch over 30 hectares, with estimated annual electricity generation of some 83,000 MWh. The solar power plant will be connected to the 110 kV network.
