Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) will build gas cogeneration plant to supply electric and heat energy to its Refinery and HIP Petro chemistry, announced officials of the company on 21. May in Pancevo.
Power plant will be 200 megawatts, worth of investment 182 million euros, and construction should be completed by mid –2016, said investment director for processing NIS block Nenad Pavlovic, after meeting with representatives of local government.
He added that the cogenerator will make steam for refinery and petrochemical operations and deliver electricity to the grid; it will serve to the needs of refinery and petro chemistry, electric power will be placed in the public electrical network and the steam in the plant of these factories.
– Environmental pollution will be reduced because natural gas will be used instead of crude oil, which is now used by power plants in the refinery & petro chemistry. The analysis that we will do together with the local government will show can gas power plant produce thermal energy also for residential heating in Pancevo, said Pavlovic.
According to the deputy mayor of Pancevo Sasa Pavlov, “this is an important project for Pancevo because of the investment value; chance to hire 40 to 60 new employees, stable supply of electricity and reducing pollution.
