On 10 April, the deadline for the launch of trial operation of all market systems, involving electricity transmission system operator ADMIE and the project company EnexClear, has passed. Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) has launched an investigation in order to define the reasons for the delay of the energy exchange target model’s first phase.
ADMIE was unable to complete the development of a balancing market platform needed for the trial operation, which was attributed to a coronavirus-related inability by General Electric to deliver required software on time.
RAE also wants to examine the impact of these delays the target model’s next stages. A full-scale launch scheduled for 30 June, when day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets are expected to begin operating, now appears completely unrealistic, while a possible launch date could be set for autumn.
