Greece, Four RES auctions planned for 2022
, SEE Energy NewsGreek Ministry of Energy said that it is planning to stage four renewable energy (RES) auctions in the second half of 2022, in order to further boost RES growth.
The first of these auctions is set to early September. The September RES auction will be a mixed session for solar and wind energy facilities and will offer tariffs for projects with a total capacity of 1,000 MW. Bidders will be able to submit multiple bids, the formula also used for the previous auction.
Another mixed, wind and solar auctions offering 600 MW in capacity should be staged by the end of the year, as well as one small-scale solar auction (projects up to 1 MW) offering 100 MW in capacity and a pilot auction for 200 MW in solar and wind capacity, combined with energy storage capacity.
The new support mechanism will include different starting prices for wind and solar projects as installation costs for the two technologies differ. It will also include special auctions for small-scale solar and wind projects (below 1 MW and 6 MW respectively), as well as joint auctions for wind and solar facilities equipped with energy storage systems.
