The renewable subsidiary of Public Power Corporation PPC secured two energy storage projects, with a combined capacity of 98 MW at the first energy storage auction in Greece. The two storage facilities – 50 MW/100 MWh and 48 MW/96 MWh will be built in Western Macedonia, where PPC Renewables is building several solar power plants.
The company will receive 48,000 euros per MWh per year in funding. The storage facilities are scheduled to be completed in 2024 and start operating in 2025.
Earlier in August, PPC and its German joint venture partner German energy group RWE took the final investment decisions on 280 MW of solar projects in Western Macedonia. PPC will buy the three plants’ entire output under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
