According to the proposals in the application round of Greek upcoming RES auction scheduled for May, solar power projects have overshadowed wind projects in the country.
The auction will be held online on 24 May, with a total of 350 MW capacity offered in both wind and solar projects. This is Greece’s third mixed RES auction.
According to preliminary data, wind applications amounted to around 300 MW, while those for solar projects were significantly higher. The price ceiling in both categories has been set to 53.86 euros/MWh. The auction will feature solar project of up to 20 MW nad wind projects of up to 50 MW.
In April 2020, Greece awarded a total of 502.94 MW of wind and solar power capacity, with bids hitting as low as 49.11 euros/MWh. Another 614 MW of wind and solar projects were awarded in August.
