Hungary will keep balance-based settlement for households that already have solar panels hooked up to the power grid, instead of applying European Union-mandated gross settlement, Energy Affairs Minister Csaba Lantos said in a video message on Facebook page last week, state news agency MTI reports.
MPs of governing Fidesz and industry associations had earlier pressed for a balanced-based settlement, which favors prosumers, to remain in place, in spite of an EU directive requiring the adoption of gross settlement from January 1, 2024.
Lantos said a balanced-based settlement would apply to households that already have solar panels and to registered solar panel projects that are completed by the end of 2025 for a period of 10 years from installation. New incentives for solar panel investments are being weighed, he added.
