According to data published by Ukrenergo, in August 2021, the total volume of electricity exports from Ukraine decreased by 6.1 % to 344.1 million kWh, while imports increased 21.9 times to 27.1 million kWh.
Compared to the previous month, the export of electricity from the energy island of TPP Burshtyn decreased by 21.2 % to 193.8 million kWh. The decline was recorded in all directions: to Hungary – by 13.4 %, Slovakia – by 66 % and Romania – by 22 %.
Exports of electricity from Ukraine increased by 24.7 % compared to the previous month, to 150.3 million kWh. Ukrenergo explains that this is a consequence of the increase in commercial exports to Poland (+ 36.5 %). At the same time, exports to Moldova increased by only 0.4 %.
In total, in the first eight months of 2021, Ukrainian electricity exports to Hungary amounted to 1,101.8 million kWh (46.1 % of the total amount), to Poland – 644.8 million kWh (27 %) and to Romania – 414.7 million kWh (17.4 %).
