Montenegrin power utility EPCG said that its hydro production increased significantly in 2018 so far due to very favorable hydrological conditions, adding that its hydropower plant Perucica produced 670 GWh of electricity in the first four months of the year, which is 53 % above the plan for that period.
With such high production in the first four months of the year, HPP Perucica achieved 73 % of annual production plan and if the trend of favorable hydrology continues, the new record high annual production could be set in 2018. Current highest annual production was recorded in 2010 – 1.43 TWh.
In the next four-year period, HPP Perucica should undergo maintenance project worth about 6.3 million euros which envisages the revitalization of all seven units and the replacement of five transformers. This will extend the operational life of the plant by additional 15-20 years and would create conditions for the installation of the plant’s eight unit.
HPP Perucica is the oldest hydropower plant in Montenegro, commissioned in 1960. Its installed capacity is 307 MW and its potential annual electricity generation is about 1,300 GWh.
