Serbia: NIS to start oil and gas exploration near Zrenjanin and Zabalj
, News Serbia EnergySerbian oil company NIS, majority owned by Russian GazpromNeft, announced that from mid-May to mid-July it will perform exploration activities near Zrenjanin and Zabalj in an attempt to find potential deposits of oil and natural gas.
Dusan Brstina from NIS, said that the company will perform seismic surveys in Turija 4 exploration area, which covers about 720 square kilometers.
According to 2015 data, the annual output of oil and gas amounts to 1.557 thousand tons of oil equivalent. NIS is the only company engaged in oil and gas production in Serbia. The company currently exploits 666 oil wells and 78 gas wells.
