Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska Zeljko Kovacevic stress the importance of the contract of DSO company “Elektrokrajina” and “transmission and distribution Toshiba Europe SPA” from Genova for the rehabilitation of the distribution network and expansion of the existing system for remote meter reading and consumption management / AMM system / is very important for Electric Energy System of the Republic of Srpska.
“It’s a great honor to the Republic of Srpska, Electric Power Industry of the Republic of Srpska, to be the holder of technological development in the energy sector in this region,” said Kovacevic.
He pointed out that the contract of “Elektrokrajina” and “transmission and distribution Toshiba Europe SPA” from Genova for the rehabilitation of the distribution network and expansion of the existing system for remote meter reading and consumption management / AMM system / is very important for Electric Energy System of the Republic of Srpska.
Kovacevic said after the signing that the Government of the Republic of Srpska supports and will support this project in order to reduce distribution losses and rehabilitation of service distribution network, all with the aim of achieving better supply of electricity to customers.
He pointed out that the introduction of modern technology will lead to increase in electricity prices. Kovacevic said that the aim of introducing new technologies is exclusion the human factor in distribution losses and theft of electricity.
“The price of electricity in Srpska is the lowest in the region,” Kovacevic said, adding that in the future they will seek opportunities that electricity price is slightly higher.
General Director of “Republic of Srpska Electric Power Industry” Branislava Milekic, who attended the signing, said that “Electric Power Industry” annually invests around 40 to 50 million KM in distribution companies.
She said that in 2006 in “Electric Power Industry of the Republic of Srpska” losses amounted to 19.6 percent, while for the first nine months of this year, distribution losses amounted to 12.73 percent.
Milekic pointed out that the results of a series of investments and measures applied are reflected in the improvement of the quality of supply of electricity consumers, security of electricity supply and in reducing distribution losses.
Commenting on the project of rehabilitation of the distribution network and expansion of the existing system for remote meter reading and consumption management, Milekic said that it would allow better and more secure supply of electricity and the introduction of new and modern technologies.
Milekic said that this project will allow the implementation of a new project, “skada system” that will allow monitoring and management of power facilities from one place, for the first phase on 35-kV substations.
“By further implementation of the project automatic management of the network and the overall distribution substation facilities at our subsidiary companies will be enabled”, said Milekić.
She said that government support of Srpska, investors like the “Toshiba” from Genova, and the support of international financial institutions and Investment Development Bank provide modernization of power distribution methods and the reduction of distribution losses and better manage power provide return of investment.
