Local authorities of Arad Country in western Romania has launched a public consultation of a large-scale solar project with proposed installed capacity of 700 MW. According to available data, the investor is S.C. West Power Investment, while the future power plants should stretch over 1,079 hectares in Graniceri and Pilu municipalities. With the estimated cost of over 700 million euros, this would be the largest solar project in the country. The intention of the investor is to take advantage of recently introduced more favorable regulations for power purchase agreements (PPAs). However, no subsidies is currently offered to large-scale solar projects in Romania.
