By the end of 2022, Romanian oil and gas company OMV Petrom, in partnership with Renovatio the largest operator of e-charging stations in the country, is planning to install at least 40 charging stations for electric cars at its petrol stations.
All upgraded petrol stations will have at least one recharging station with a minimum power of 50 kW, and at least 20 of them will have recharging stations with an installed capacity of 350 kW. The latter will form the largest network of ultra-fast charging stations in Romania. These high-capacity refueling points will allow recharging of electric vehicles in less than 20 minutes.
These stations will be located along the corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network within Romania and in large urban areas.
Member of OMV Petrom Executive Board responsible for Downstream Oil Radu Caprau said that e-mobility represents a long-term project and meets an increasingly diverse demand for road transportation. Even if the number of electric vehicles is still low in Romania, the prospects are for e-mobility to become a mainstream option, especially over short distances. Therefore, the company is preparing to provide in the coming years the necessary infrastructure for various mobility options.
