On 16 June, the Serbian Government has officially designated SEEPEX as the Serbian Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO).
NEMO designation procedure was performed in accordance with the Serbian Energy Law and corresponding by-law – Regulation on the market coupling of organized day-ahead and intraday electricity markets, and it is fully harmonized with the corresponding provisions of Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1222, establishing the Guidelines on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management (CACM regulation).
This NEMO designation removes remaining and most important legal and regulatory obstacle, accordingly paving the way for the market coupling of the Serbian organized electricity market with the neighboring EU markets, i.e. joining of the Serbian electricity market to the single day-ahead and intraday European electricity market. This process will additionally increase overall security of supply, provide transparent and robust regional wholesale electricity price, ensure optimal allocation of available cross-zonal capacities and more efficient market integration of renewable energy sources, fully based on transparent and non-discriminatory market principles.
