Serbia: Serbia Power Utility Company purchased electricity from region during the crisis, News Serbia Energy
EPS imported electricity worth 3.4MEUR. There is not even a “spark” of companies EFT and “Rudnap”. Serbia Power Utility Company purchased kilowatts from Republika Srpska, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bulgaria, and EPS purchased electricity from several retailers that operate in the Serbian market.
Floods have seriously endangered the operation of the main power plants in Serbia and the only way for undisturbed kilowatts distribution of the majority of consumers over the past seven was – import. Since 15th May, when an emergency was declared, until yesterday, “Serbia Power Utility Company” has imported 84.4 million kilowatt – hours, which is an expenditure of 3.4 MEUR.
Serbia Power Utility Company purchased kilowatts from Republika Srpska, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bulgaria, and EPS purchased electricity from several retailers that operate in the Serbian market.
However, as “Novosti” finds out, EPS did purchase a single kilowatt from EFT and “Rudnap”, owned by Serbian businessman Vuk Hamovic and Vojin Lazarevic. Their offers did not match to EPS because they were not the most favorable.
Electricity production in domestic power plants still is not sufficient to meet the consumers’ needs in our country. Even after starting the unit in the biggest Serbian power plant – Thermal power plant “Nikola Tesla” near Belgrade, which is scheduled for tomorrow, the import of kilowatts will be required.
-The Electricity supply outside the EPS system will be necessary even after starting the unit A1 in TENT A- considered in EPS. – Because, the production from their own capacities still will not be sufficient to settle consumption in Serbia, which is on average of 76 million kilowatt – hours per day.
Since yesterday, several days after the closure of the railway Vreoci – Obrenovac, which floods have caused, the first trains with lignite from “Kolubara” came in power plant. In four train composition were delivered more than 4.500 tons of lignite in TENT B. At the same time, the preparations for the production normalization are underway. The steam locomotive that will be used to heat the heavy fuel oil came yesterday, which is necessary to restart the unit A 1.
Units in TENT A, due to the water onrush in some of the vital facilities, were shut down on 16th May.
