A one-year transitional period, during which households and small electricity consumers in Slovenia paid half of the fee for supporting the production of electricity from renewable sources, ended on September 1.
The base electricity prices, which make up around half of the final cost, will remain in effect until the end of 2024, but the government could extend the regulation even further.
Due to last year’s soaring electricity market prices, the Slovenian government set the limit at around 10 eurocents per kWh (a single tariff). Since then, prices on the markets have fallen, and Slovenian consumers are once again paying a higher VAT rate (22%).
July price data shows that households in Slovenia paid an average of more than 19 eurocents per kWh, including all contributions and fees.
