In June gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 1,025 GWh, compared to 1,336 GWh in the same month last year, according to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
In total gross electricity production hydro power plants participated with the share of 24.8 %, thermal power plants with 73.2 % and solar and wind power with 2 %.
Net production of hydro power plants amounted to 253 GWh in June 2020, which is 55.8 % less than in the same month in 2019. Thermal production amounted to 680 GWh, which is approximately the same as in June last year. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 20 GWh. Electricity imports rose to 282 GWh in June from last year’s 179 GWh, while exports dropped by 11 % to 423 GWh (475 GWh in June 2019). Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 442,000 tons in June 2020, which is 21.6 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 1 % and amounted to 521,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in June 2020 amounted to 7.838 million cubic meters, which is 25.5 % less than a year before.
