“Elektroprivreda BiH” will construct the fifth aggregate 6,1 MW strong in HPP “Una” in Kostale. Reconstruction of some parts of the circulating HPP, which has been in operation since 1953, will be done in order to provide additional energy. Its capacity will be increased from 9 to 14,6 MW after the end. Preparation of technical, surrounding documentation and collecting all approvals and licenses are in progress.
-The beginning of construction of the fifth aggregate of HPP “Una” in Kostele is planned for the next year and the beginning of electricity production is planned in 2016- Midheta Kurspahic, spokeswoman of “Elektroprivreda BiH” emphasized.
EPBiH has a long-term goal to increase installed capacities and electricity production on the base of renewable energy sources. Extension of HPP “Una – Kostela” capacities will mean improved stability of electricity system in Una-Sana Canton and significant contribution to production capacities increase.
-It is a fact that needs and consumption of Una-Sana Canton are 10 times higher than production of installed capacities in this area what says enough about importance of HPP Una in Kostele project extension- Kurspahic, “Elektroprivreda BiH” spokeswoman added.
Electricity production in Una-Kostela Canton is 47,7 GWH and consumption is about 480 GWH what indicates unequal ratio between production and consumption. Therefore, the construction of the fifth aggregate, 6 MW strong, will enable more stable electricity sector in HPP “Una” in Kostele.
