Romania, Transelectrica recorded a net profit in the amount of 107.5 million euros in 2022
, SEE Energy NewsRomanian electricity transmission system operator Transelectrica recorded a net profit in the amount of 107.5 million euros in 2022, compared to a profit of just around 90,000 euros recorded in 2021.
The company’s total revenues increased by 77 % year-on-year reaching 469 million euros in 2022. Improved financial results were driven by the transmission revenues and higher revenues from the allocation of interconnection capacity, given the existing energy deficit in the European Union.
The operator’s operational revenues rose by an annual 67 % to 1.27 billion euros, while total operating expenses rose by 5 % to 1.15 billion euros in 2022. Transelectrica’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 237 % on the year to 176.8 million euros.
According to Transelectrica’s data, a decrease in electricity consumption in Romania was recorded in all twelve months of 2022. On the other hand, cross-border exports rose by an annual 51 %, while cross-border imports increased by 16 %.
