Acting Managing Director of EPS, Aleksandar Obradovic is the most serious candidate for the CEO of this company. Competition closed on 20 July, all 77 candidacies for Managing Director of EPS among that includes Obradovic’s candidacy also, is in front of Government’s Commission and Director of EPS should be chosen on 20 September.
Obradovic is mostly recommended for Managing Director of EPS because of his professional biography and results he achieved as a chairman in EPS since the September last year.
Obradovic had worked in Czech Energy Company CEZ before he came to EPS. CEZ survived transition from state’s monopoly to the one of the most profitable companies in Europe.
This experience has influenced the decision a year ago to announce Obradovic as Acting Director of EPS, considering plans of the Government for EPS’s reform and preparation of this company for electricity market liberalization and such plans still exist- sources say.
Obradovic was the chairman of the Company “Nove elektrane Republike Srpske”, common company of Czech CEZ and “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” and Director of Serbia’s CEZ sector.
Obradovic’s candidacy is supported by positive data about EPS’s business during his mandate as Acting Managing Director like the biggest surplus in production since 2001 and positive financial result of 11,3 billion dinars.
According to the results that follow Obradovic’s candidacy, EPS has achieved significant savings in business of liberalized market and it has kept 97% of electricity market and 25 of 26 high voltage buyers since 1 January this year.
