Slovenia’s net electricity generation in May 2020 decreased by 12 % compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia.
In May 2020, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,232 GWh, which is 12 % more than in the previous month. At the same time, consumption reached 1,011 GWh, which is a 2 % increase compared to April 2020, but 14 % lower compared to May 2019. In May, production in thermal power plants decreased by 32 % compared to the same month in 2019, production in hydropower plants decreased by 13 %, while production at nuclear power plant Krsko remained approximately the same. In May 2020, Slovenia imported 567 GWh (- 21 % compared to May 2019) of electricity and exported 752 GWh (- 18 %).
Supply of energy commodities in general went down in May, such as the supply of kerosene which dropped by 39 %. Compared to the same month last year, kerosene consumption dropped by 83 % and petrol consumption by 31 %, mainly due to COVID-19 induced lockdown.
